Time for a little giveaway.....why you ask? Well because it is my birthday today and I am celebrating the last year in my 30s, yep that's right! So here is how this little giveaway is going to work: I am giving away one of each of the new Notepad sets, oh yeah {Red and Blue Graph, Lime/Gray Chevron and Mod Turquoise Chevron}. I have so many crafty projects on my mind right now I don't even know where to start. So I have printed them off and put them in a jar, a craft a day or two or three. Ha-ha. I have decided to retire the *twelve Christmas trees* tradition this year. I will pick up that tradition next year. There has been a lot going on the last several months, and I just want to simplify things for a little while. Now don't misunderstand, there will be decorating, but just one tree. Well, the tree won't get itself out of the attic, I better get busy.

Some of you may have noticed the lack of posting here. Yeah, it has been a pretty busy Summer, but our family has so much to be thankful for right now. We are truly blessed, no doubt. I have had my etsy shop on vacation mode for a better part of the Summer, several reasons, one being my monogramming business has really sky rocketed, other reasons just busy being mom, wife, daughter, sister and daughter-in-law. After dealing with some lost etsy orders (thanks USPS) I am considering going digital; converting my paper designs so you could purchase and print at home, as many times as you like. Is that something anyone would be interested in? With the digital download would be instructions for cutting out the designs. Just thinking about it and want some opinions.

Other big news around here:
*brother is home from deployment safe and sound
*hubby on a new career path and working from home
*house is a mess due to construction of home office for the above mentioned hubby working from home.
*both girls are back in school (5th grade and pre-school)
There is more, but these are the top four right now.

Off to work a bit before everyone else wakes up.

Summer Sweat Shop

WOW it has been a hot one, although I will not complain as it is even HOTTER other places. I have been patiently waiting for my new window installation so my new a/c window unit can be installed in my studio. Business has really picked up for my Monogram Shop (currently known as the sweat shop, because that is what I am doing while working in the heat up here, sweating!) I am really thankful for the new work I have been receiving, it has been so fabulous. The last few months have been filled with several ups and downs and I have finally closed the door on the things that bring me down. Once I did that and moved forward so many great things have come my way, new opportunities, new attitude, I feel GREAT! God is always looking out for me, he has shown me time and again, it was really obvious this last time.

A new week, a new attitude

I have put the last two weeks out of my mind and have moved on, a lot of unnecessary crap got tossed into my life that didn't need to be there, but enough about that. I have faith and I *AM* the better person, because I have God on my side. Thanks to my Dad for keeping me focused on that.

So here we are...the Garden is coming along quite nicely, we had a ton of squash, zucchini, cucumbers and peppers to pick over the weekend and we even grabbed a few green tomatoes for frying. All I can say is that the veggies you grow all by yourself taste MUCH better than any other veggie you will ever find. :) The girls and I are off to work in the garden again today, then maybe some swimming later on and of course our daily Summer craft!

First day at the pool

Summer break & 3rd birthday

Well we have three more days of school before Summer break officially begins. I must admit I am READY! I need a break from the making lunches, pick up, homework routine. I know Lindsey is more than ready for a break. She has had another *fabulous* school year, so very proud of her! We are making our Summer to do list, because the last thing I want to hear is " Mom, I'm bored".

In other news, we are approaching Mally's 3rd birthday. GOSH when did she go and grow up on me? *sniff sniff* I am really ahead of my game this year, the party is planned and the invites are sent. WHOA! I haven't seen that kind of organization from myself in a few months. YAY me!

Well, we are getting back on track around here adjusting to the new changes that have taken place. Life is pretty darn good I must say. Now all that is left to make that complete is my little brother's homecoming. At that point I will be able to breathe easier.

Mally's First Haircut

Christmas Spirit?

I think mine is getting here, especially after a busy weekend of getting the Christmas trees put up. Still it has been hard to think about Christmas, knowing my little brother will not be here with us this year. Thank goodness for Skype right? So this is the what...third year for the Twelve trees. We made a few changes this year, updated some ornaments etc, but there are still *twelve*. I have also been trying to find time to make my December Journal, umm it is still not finished, I am taking pictures and hopefully the time will be available soon to sit down and get the journal prepared. I will shut down the shop early this year just so I have time to do things with the girls and family that will be in town this year.

Creatures are stirring downstairs!

I guess you noticed...

So I guess you have noticed by now my lack of blogging.?. I honestly do miss sitting down and posting. My family has been dealing with a lot these last few months high on the list is my brother's deployment. It is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. You see not only is he my little brother, he is my best friend. We have been through so much together, always there for one another no matter what. I know without a shadow of a doubt God will keep him safe, I just know he will be fine. All of the waiting for the next phone call or the next email is just torture. People tell you how hard it is and as much as you try to prepare yourself for it, it still just hits you like a ton of bricks. Some days are better than others, and I stay strong for my parents and my girls because they need me to be. So please pray for him and his troop.

I am trying to get past this sort of writers block I have. So many times I have sat down to post and I just draw a blank. The ideas that once came to me in the shower (I know...of all places right??) aren't coming as clearly as they used to. Now, I am pretty busy with my two shops and that is such a blessing. I promise to do better, I have jotted down some ideas for the upcoming holidays and perhaps there will be a giveaway too.

Not much time to blog this last week, hubby has been super busy at work, traveling etc. so I have been on mommy duty 24x7. The girls and I are taking a road trip this coming up week. We are sad Daddy can't go with us but we understand. We have more trips planned later in the fall and hopefully he will not be as busy then. So, I am off to finish packing and hope to have lots of photos to share when we return.

One thing I found recently was this site Roadside America. You can map your trip and find various attractions and oddities along the way. Lindsey and I got online this week and mapped a few places to stop. It should be fun.

Life is pretty darn good!

I have been thinking a lot about the events of the last couple of years recently: deciding to have a second child, quiting my job of 14 years, working on my monogramming/paper biz full time, moving Lindsey to a new school... just to name a few of the more public things. I am so thankful for everything I have experienced during this time, you really find out a lot about yourself and those around you. Who you can count on and who you can't. I am in a really great place right now, it hasn't really been a hard road to get here just a road untraveled. Lots of new things to experience. I have lost some friendships in the process of all this, but have gained so many more, ones that I think are much better for me as a person. I am looking forward to *year two* of being home. I think the first year not working and being home full time was a learning year and *yes* I learned a lot. I often wonder how I did all this and work outside the home too, but you just do it, like so many great women do everyday. The bottom line is I will do anything for my wonderful little family. They are what make me strong and the person I am.

It's Flippin' Hot

The little temperature widget on my desktop says it is 99 degrees outside, just checked and the heat index is 108 degrees. There is also an *Excessive Heat Warning* in effect. Well no kidding. We went to the pool yesterday afternoon and my bath water was cooler than the pool water, seriously. We stayed in today and did some crafting and then I worked for a few hours. I swear our a/c has not turned off all day, I am not looking forward to the utility bill this month.

D12

D12 is hubby's nickname, much like J12 became mine after we were married. Yes, it sounds very James Bondish I know. Anyway, when the girls and I were at the Zoo Monday I just so happened to pull into the *D* parking lot, all spaces are labeled so you can remember where you park I guess. (the older I get the more this will come in handy) so when I was driving along I spotted, you guessed it the *D12* parking space. Yay is was empty, so we whipped in there I pulled out my camera and tada...a cool framed photo for David for Father's Day.

Now, the next time we are there we will search for J12, L12 and M12. I see a nice and funky photo grouping in our future.

Office Space

OK, so I am sick of the hotness already and we are not even into Summer officially. Our poor second A/C unit for the upstairs can't seem to keep up. My studio and the girls playroom are upstairs and it has been really hot up there. I don't know if the previous owners of our house thought enough to put in the proper size a/c unit to cool the space or not. So after the a/c ran non-stop yesterday while I was trying to work and me just freaking out the whole time worrying about the utility bill, I decided to move my computer and a few things downstairs in a spare bedroom for the Summer. My embroidery machine is way to big to move by myself, (not to mention the spiral staircase I would have to bring it down, again what were they thinking when they put that in? I see a real staircase in my future... just not sure when) so for now I will monogram in the early morning hours and at night. I like the setup down here so far. Right off of the kitchen, close to the girls etc. We will see how it all works out.

We have celebrated all weekend with family and today we continued the celebrating.

First stop *Gibson's Donuts* yummo!

It was flippin hot, but the girls didn't seem to mind too much. Mally walked nearly the whole time and fell asleep before I could even get out of the parking lot.

She is still napping as I type this, otherwise I probably wouldn't be typing this :)

It seems like I had more time to blog with I was still working. I am still trying to figure that one out (no I did not blog at work). Life is great, girls are great, biz is growing etc. School has been out for about 3 weeks now. We have taken a trip to Ohio, been swimming a lot, crafting with Lindsey, playing and journaling some new business ideas for the fall/winter. I took a break from Lindsey's Closet after school was out just to catch my breath and to hang out with the girls, I set June 16 as my return to *some* work date. I typically only work on Tuesdays and Thursdays and maybe some on the weekends if we don't have plans. I really don't want to do more than that since the whole reason for me quiting my job was to be with my girls. I know on occasion I will have to work more than that and that's OK.

We have family in town this weekend to celebrate Mally's 2nd birthday. WOW can you believe it? I sure can't. Seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. I have had so much fun being home with her this last year, she is keeping me young that is for sure!

I have a few crafty tutorials to post as well as some other things I have been working on, hopefully I will get to that next week. I am going to try some mobile blogging and see how that works out, maybe I can post more that way.?.

A Small Portion of April

We have been working in the yard (when not raining) getting it ready for summer. Lots of pretty flowers, re-arranging some things, you know the typical stuff. I look forward to sitting on the patio enjoying a nice beverage, some fresh veggies from the farmers market and something grilled real soon.

In other news Lindsey's Closet has been keeping me busy, that's good right? I am finishing up some custom outfits for a dear friend. She and I went to school together, she is a teacher at Lindsey's new school. How cool is it that we reconnected after all these years totally by accident or was it an accident? Maybe fate? Anyway, she is so *sweet* and *funny* as heck.

The staying home thing has been so great, in a few days I will be celebrating the one year anniversary of staying home. I have made so many new friends and explored so many new things since being home. I have finally found my groove, being home after working for so many years was a bit overwhelming at first, it still is at times but that is just life. Just deal with it and move on, live each day to it's fullest and don't worry if the laundry doesn't get done today, there are *memories* to be made and girls to *play* with and a hubby to *flirt* with, and *mommy field trips* to take (I am loving the Mommy field trips).

School will be out soon, and I am ready to turn off the alarm clock and sleep in a bit.

Place Cards...Weddings, Dinner Parties etc..

I accidentally stumbled into creating place cards for my shop. I was getting so many requests to turn my existing tags into place cards that I decided to go ahead and offer them in the shop. Since it was am after thought, I never really stopped to think how to use them in a place setting until one of my new customers asked me. So all day Thursday I thought about and then headed to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few things (most of the stuff I already had on hand). The goal was to keep it simple and keep it economical.

First up is a *Wine Cork*:

We have tons of these in a pretty jar that I intend to make into a bulletin board one day. I simple took a craft knife and slit a hole in the end of the cork and slid the place card into that. The cost...well the cost of the bottle of wine, but let's be honest, it will be consumed. Am I right?

Next a faux *Pear*:

or you could use a real pear, just hang the tag from the stem.

A miniature doll house *Park Bench*:

these are found in the miniature doll house aisle at Hobby Lobby, the cost was $1.99 for one bench. There may be a cheaper place to find these online.

A *Simple Chair*:

this too was found at Hobby Lobby. It was unfinished so I painted it black and now look how cute this is:

A Jar of Rosemary/Mint Salt Scrub (recipe to follow):
these would be cute as a place card for a bridal luncheon or any type of girly gathering.

*Framed Cork Board*:

this is a frame from the dollar store, it is a little larger than I would probably use for the size of the place card, but again I was using things I had on hand. I also make table numbers and they would be super cute attached to this in the middle of the table. I used some cork sheets (purchased at Michael's awhile back) cut to fit the frame. I removed the glass from the frame and re-attached the back. I then used a push pin to attach the place card. There are so many cute push pins out there these days. You could hot glue a jewel or something to match your theme to the pin and voila, instant cuteness. I could go on, but I think you get the idea...right?

*Framed Hook*:

another dollar store frame. It was black, but I got out the paint and distressed it a little. I removed the glass from the frame, cut some pretty scrapbook paper to size then I got my drill out (yes I have my own drill, hubby got it for me so I wouldn't be tempted to use his) I attached the hook (purchased at Hobby Lobby on sale 50% off so it was 1.50) in place with some stolen umm I mean borrowed screws from hubby's shed. The I put the frame back together and hung a simple tag from the hook.

*Mr. Blue Bird*:

You can used whatever kind of bird you want, I am just partial to *blue birds*. The birds came in a set of two as did the nests, all from Hobby Lobby, on sale for $1.00. I got the hot glue gun out (gosh I love playing with hot glue, except for the strings it leaves everywhere, maybe my glue gun is just old who knows) anyway. I then made a clippy stand thingy to attach the card with. I used an alligator clip and a ballpoint stick pin purchased from the jewelry making aisle at... you guessed it, Hobby Lobby. I attached the clippy thingy to the bird and tied some raffia around that to make it come together. Then clipped on one of my *little birdie* cards.

These are just a few simple ideas I came up with really quick, I tried not to *over think it* which I can sometimes do.

I did price a variety of place card holders while I was shopping and the average cost was anywhere from $1.99-$2.99 each. I haven't looked online to see what all is available yet.

I did a post awhile back about one of my customer's use of the place cards and table numbers.

*Plan A*- David's Dad was supposed to fly in for the week, we got a call from him last Friday saying that he has the flu and a horrible case at that. So he was not able to make the trip. So a few tears were shed, (Lindsey was so very much looking forward to his visit) heck we all were, we haven't seen him in a while. I could tell David was really bummed out too. We went out for dinner that night and tried to think of something we could do, David already had the week off (not that they have left him alone to enjoy his *vacation*, but that is a whole other story) so we tried to think of some places that weren't a real far drive to go for a few days. I got online later that night and found a few places, now the problem was finding a dog sitter. Our normal sitter is also on Spring Break this week so there goes that, and all other sitters would cost nearly as much as a trip. So we opted to stay home and just spend some time together and save the money for an extra trip this summer maybe.

First of all after a lot of begging, eyelash batting, and lip pouting, we talked David into getting us, um... I mean the girls a trampoline. He has nixed the idea for years, claiming there is no space in the yard. Well, when he got his new shed/barn last summer (in another part of the yard) the old one was torn down and wouldn't you know a *perfect* spot for a 12' trampoline. So we really worked him over, poor guy. He gave in and we went and picked it up on Sunday. We got it put together in a few hours and the result is two happy girls who should NEVER, NEVER EVER have the words...*I'm Bored* come out of their mouths again. (but that is a whole other story too :) )

I remember when my parents got one for my brother and I. There were no enclosures back then, or if so we did not have one. It was jump at your own risk, we were always trying to bounce each other off the thing. It is amazing that we didn't have any serious injuries. We have had fun this week with the new addition to the landscape. Now we need to work on that fence. gosh.

So the next night our neighbors came over and we grilled out and built a fire to roast marshmallows. I have missed hanging out on the patio during the winter.

Wednesday, David went and got a couple of loads of mulch for the front flower beds. While he was working on that, Mallory washed Lindsey's rock collection.....yea I know. But she had the best time, who knew washing rocks could be so much fun.

OK, so by now Lindsey has been hijacked by our neighbor to go have lunch with her. I pulled out some shaving cream and let Mallory go to town. I *loved* watching her make the biggest mess with this stuff.

She was covered from head to toe in shaving cream when it was all said and done. So today I have a few activities up my sleeve. None of which I have shared with anyone, it does involve a road trip and a picnic though. I am off to get ready.

Well we made it to Muddy's last night after our family Valentine's Day dinner at our favorite Mexican Restaurant and it was worth the wait. I had a *True Love* cupcake and I was *in love* not only with the cupcake but the fact that we all four got to go enjoy cupcakes together. My heart most definitely belongs to my *three sweeties* and what better way to spend Valentine's Day than with the three of them.

Today Lindsey and I got to sneak out of the house for some Mommy, big sister time. We hit Jo-Ann and then went next door to JCP to smell all of the awesome Philosophy fragrances. Then we stopped for some shakes at Sonic, my favorite a pineapple shake (reminds me of my granny) and Lindsey tried an orange cream slush, which I might add was yummy too. Our next stop was the huge estate sale down the road from our house, lots of stuff. We had a great time just the two of us, I try to get out with just Lindsey as much as I can. It is important for her to have her big girl time with Mommy and Daddy too. Now we are seriously considering making some of my Cosmo Cupcakes, because we need more cupcakes.

Wide Awake

It is Saturday, 4am and I am wide awake. My head is spinning with ideas and things to do. Lindsey's Closet is keeping me busy these days and that is a good thing. The girls and I met some friends after school yesterday. The intended meeting spot was Muddy's Bake Shop, but we got there and they had sold out of everything. There is an event at the Racquet Club which I am assuming is keeping our favorite little bake shop busy. So we ended up and Ben & Jerry's, nothing wrong with a little scoop of *coffee coffee buzz buzz*. I had a good time chatting with my friend Jessica and Lindsey and Lexi obviously had a good time because Lindsey ended up going home with them for a sleepover. After all of these years of being suckered at the last minute for a sleepover you would think I would have an emergency sleepover bag in the back of my truck, but I don't......yet. Anyway, they don't get to see each other nearly as often as they used to so I am happy they are getting some time together. I have some pricing sheets to finish up for LC and then I plan to sew sew sew today and hopefully have a nice Valentine's Dinner with the family and maybe a little trip to Muddy's? hmmmm

I am still re-cooping from double ear infections and sinus crud that finally caught up with me this past week. David was out of town in the middle of all this, so recovery time has been slow, (because as all of you Mom's know, we do not get sick days). David has the girls outside this afternoon since it is so nice out today; 57 degrees right now according to my little weather widget. Wish I felt like getting out and doing something. I wonder if I can bat my eyelashes at David like the girls do and see if he will cook dinner tonight??? It is worth a try.

I have started a separate blog to promote my monogram business. In the coming weeks I will start posting lots of pics of some new stuff I have been working on. Working through some business ideas

I have been thinking a lot lately about how to grow my business more. I quit my corporate job last May in order to stay at home with the girls and also grow my monogramming business. It has taken some adjustment to being at home after working for so long, but I am determined to find a balance for things. For instance Mallory is in mother's day out two days a week, those are the days I will set aside for work, no housework or extra stuff those days, I need to be working on inventory and business realated stuff. Sure, things will come up and I will deal with them as they do. Work smarter, not harder right? I like the monogramming business I get, ( the towels, sheets, blankets etc) that get dropped off, however I want to add more things that people can actually buy, not just the service of monogramming. I got together with a friend today, who also has a home business, we were able to brainstorm through some ideas for each other. It was so great talking with another Mom who is on the same page as I am. I have realized I need to have a more focused business offering, right now I have people calling with all sorts of things from can you *make some curtains* to *can you hem pants* and while that is OK, I need to come up with a list of things that I am willing to do and stick to that. It is OK to say *No* right? I am feeling positive about some changes I am making, I know this will be a good year.

We're Back

We got back last night from our trip to Ohio to visit my family. Lots of fun as usual. I am bursting with energy to get things around the house in a more simpler order. The twelve trees were taken down and put back in the attic the day after Christmas, it was nice not having to come home and face that task. David and I have always had the philosophy "don't take the old into the new year" so that means all Christmas decos have to be packed away before 1/1.

So back to that "simple order" first the house; purge unneeded and unused stuff, just get it out of here. Then onto some emotional purging, complicated friendships etc. I want to live life more simply and not worry about things that I can't control. There is nothing complicated about our lives we are just living life. I want to focus on some new friendships, get out more and have more *Jennifer time*. I have my eye on a couple of classes at U of M that I plan to register for, wow did I just say that? I have the paperwork and I *will* fill it out and drop it off.

I am off to spend the last day of winter break with David and the girls, school starts back tomorrow.

That is pretty much all we have been doing. I love not having a schedule, we play when we want,
we bake when we want, we nap when we want blah blah blah. We have been caroling with the neighbors, went and looked at Christmas lights (I have some amazing pictures of that, we found a house whose lights were set to music, much like the movie Deck the Halls, so cool) We finished our Gingerbread house yesterday.

It is funny how much Lindsey's decorating has evolved over the years, when she was younger the more icing and candy the better, now simpler is better. She must be picking that up from David and I. Funny.

I am 99.9% finished with my Christmas shopping, I only leave a margin of error because I am sure I will have forgotten something. I don't think so but anyhoo.

I hear *creatures stirring* downstairs, better go see who's up.

Today begins the first day of Lindsey's winter break. I have finished up my monogramming orders and will not be taking any last minute ones so that the girls and I can spend some good quality time together. We have gingerbread houses to decorate, cookies and other sweet treats to bake and whatever else we decide we want to do. We have a cookie swap to attend on Monday, which will be lots of fun too.

I plan to post as much as possible so you can see what we are getting into around here Mom (wish you were here). I am also trying to keep up with my December Daily Journal. I have taken the pics but they have not made it to the journal yet, hopefully I can get caught up on that as well. What are you all up to these last few days before Christmas?

Wednesday, Lindsey went to have her 10 inch ponytail cut off to donate to Beautiful Lengths. She has been growing her hair out since 1st grade (two years) and decided in 2nd grade that she would donate it once she got to 10 inches. She told me back during the summer she hoped it would be long enough to donate by December. I have never seen her so excited about cutting her hair, she has such a big heart, always so thoughtful and giving. I think she picked the perfect time of the year to do such a fabulous thing.

Tara had to get out the BIG scissors, Lindsey has my super thick hair, which I got from my Mom.

I am pretty much finished with decorating for Christmas, a few minor things left and that is it. I spent Saturday and Sunday putting up the decos, yes I put up twelve trees again ( I will post pics this year). Last year I made these advent boxes for the girls to count down the days until Christmas. I hung them on the wall last year but after a small mishap with the poster putty I was forbidden to put them back on the wall, so this is what I came up with:

Lindsey decided on a Karaoke party this year and the girls came dressed like *diva rock stars*.

I made backstage passes that Lindsey handed out as the girls arrived. They would have been laminated had my laminating machine not gone belly up on me. Anyway, I think they turned out pretty cute and Lindsey loved them and that is all that matters.

We also had sunglasses and inflatable microphones to hand out to complete their look.

Is this thing on..... OK good, I know I am a blogging slacker so I apologize for that up front. It seems as soon as October hits all heck breaks loose. Busy busy busy. A lot of Lindsey's friends have birthdays beginning in October as well as family members and that is on top of all the other stuff like Halloween and Thanksgiving and just everyday stuff. My Mom went home on Sunday after here two week visit. I hated to see her leave, every time she does I get a little teary. The fact that I don't have family close by just makes me sad the older I get. Thank goodness for my friends though, they are my chosen family and I love them too.

We had a fun time at Lindsey's birthday party, *Karaoke* with 15 screaming 8-9 year olds. YIKES I must be crazy. I took lots of cute pics and will get them posted later today if time permits. You do know that I am the *lady in waiting* for a certain 17 month old right? One that does not nap a whole heck of a lot and one who likes to explore every cabinet and nook she can find.

I still have some monogramming orders to finish as well as some outfits I have cut out for Mally. I also want to get my December scrap journal started and finished this weekend, I am committed to a picture a day for December and I WILL journal, even if it is just a couple of thoughts jotted down. We are staying here for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Keeping it low key as usual. Off to get Lindsey's lunch made and get started on my day.

Holy crap, 9 YEARS OLD. Double digits next year. My sweetie is growing up so fast, I know this is the same teary rant I have every year at this time so I won't bore you. :) We are busy celebrating and enjoying time with my Mom while she is here. In two days my Mother will be here for a 2 week visit. I am so excited as are the girls and David too. Yes, he loves his Mother-in-law. :) Hopefully she and I can have some crafty time. We always manage to get ourselves into something. I found some really cute Santa redwork embroidery designs (I have never tried the redwork stuff) I think I will get them stitched up today and tomorrow and may have her help me piece them together for a little Christmas quilt. We'll see how time goes. Mally and I have some play time this morning and our walk, so if all goes well she will have a nice nap today and I can work on it then. We were all in bed way early last night. Lindsey at 6:45p, Mally feel asleep in my lap about 7:15P and I was asleep by 7:45P. The day seemed to drag on forever yesterday, it always does after we set our clocks back. It was a nice relaxing day though. Off to pack Lindsey's lunch for school and I think the coffee is finished brewing (the holiday flavored coffee creamer is out, so so happy about that, I love me some gingerbread creamer) Have a great day!

Trick or Treat

We had a fun time on Halloween, we had about 50 or so of our neighbors over for chili, then we all dispersed and went trick or treating. It is really hard to stick together when you have so many children going in all different directions. We had a lot of fun though and the girls scored some good treats. Our neighbor and friend always does it up nice, after we eat at our house she runs back to hers and sets up her treats, candy for the little ones and wine for the adults. Now that's what I'm talking about :) Lindsey was an Aqua Fairy again and Mallory was the cutest little ladybug you have ever seen.

What have I been up to? Well, in no particular order:

Mallory's hundredth ear infection/sinus infection (well not that many, but it sure feels like it)
Volunteering at Lindsey's school
Room Sponsor stuff (auction baskets, class journals etc)
Monogramming orders are starting to pick up
Sewing for the girls
Planning Lindsey's birthday party
Everyday Mommy stuff
Trying to think about Christmas (it's hard until after Lindsey's birthday)
Misc. *crap* that gets tossed in the mix (this is the stuff that really makes me crazy)

I really don't know how I did all this and worked too, I guess you just make it happen and not sleep to get it all done.

What is left to do?

Birthday parties (Lindsey has been invited to four, yes four this weekend)
A day trip planned for Saturday for the four of us (see above, hopefully it can still happen)
Deliveries to make (sorry Farrah and Lisa)
Some holiday stuff for the shop (and possibly for local pick up only :food stuff:. still working out the details on that one)
My calendar is full, just trust me on that and I won't bore you the the rest.

I have been in a real mood lately and I just can't figure out why, I am usually pretty laid back nothing gets me too upset, I just say what I think and move on, but somethings have hit me the wrong way lately. Oh well it will pass I am sure. I am also feeling a bit disconnected from old friends, but I have met some really amazing people since quiting work and volunteering at the new school. I feel more in my element now, but it still makes you wonder about the friendships that used to be. We all get busy I know, but at what point does that just become an excuse? Something else for me to ponder I guess. I have moved on, and we are all better for the changes that we made. Everyone is happy, MUCH HAPPIER. It's like a whole new world that I didn't know about.

Some new layouts

I have managed to scrap a couple of layouts in between this, that and the other thing.

I have been working on some scrap for hire stuff for a friend and it is pretty much finished (YIPPEE). I am putting some finishing touches on it and will deliver it to her this week. Now I need to start on some monogramming orders and planning Lindsey's upcoming birthday party. The older she gets the harder it is to come up with something. She actually wants to keep it low key this year, something small, which I am all for. We have a couple of ideas we are tossing around so hopefully we can get going with the planning real soon.

Mini-index album

I started this little index file mini-album over the summer as a way to document snippets of Lindsey's school year. I have an album (one of those fill in the blank ones) to add school photo, teachers name, friends names etc. But I wanted to specifically document her Third Grade year in a little more detail. Here it is so far:

I just used some graph index cards to add some additional pictures to. I am not sure what all the tabs will be labeled. I will add photos and journaling as things happen and go from there. I don't want to stress about it to much, just do it. I keep it close by on my desk so I can reach for it easily and add pictures as I print them. I am a couple of events behind but I am printing photos as I type.

Little miss smarty pants

Lindsey got her first report card last week, straight A's and let me just say *You go girl*.

She has never had a bad report card and she is always excited to see how well she has done. This is the first year where her report card is A-B-C-D-F. In years past at her previous school it was a bit different. Anyway, not gonna go into all that. I am so proud of her, she is doing just fabulous in Third Grade and so much happier in her new school, and that of course makes me happy. :) She got to wear blue jeans to school today for having perfect attendance she thought was pretty cool, (I think she was just happy with the ribbon).

Fall break begins tomorrow, I am looking forward to hanging out with the girls tomorrow before Lindsey leaves to go out of town with a friend for the weekend.

I really haven't had too much to say so therefore have not felt like blogging to much. My grandmother was in town this past week so I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. She had gotten some bad news about her best friend's health and was feeling a little down so I went to pick her up and bring her here for a visit. We had a great time, the girls love her so much. I am *so very thankful* that she is such a big part of our lives. I am the oldest of her grandchildren and the one that lives the closest. She is just the best, it is hard for me to watch her grow old, most of my childhood memories are of her and my grandfather. They were always around growing up and when school was out in the summer I was at their house. It is truly a blessing to have her be a part of my girls lives. I so wish my grandfather was still with us, that is the one thing that I wish for my girls, is that they could have met him. He was so amazing. I miss him terribly. I am not sure why I am going into all of this, maybe because after spending time with Mama Nita this last week I started to reflect on how lucky I am to have her around. I have always felt lucky having her part of my life, but after watching her with the girls it just makes me even more grateful for the time we have with her. Even when you are 35 years old, it is still cool to say "my grandmother is coming for a visit" :) . It is even more awesome that she is now hanging out with my children.

I plan to be at my desk or not too far from it at my embroidery machine this week, during Mallory's naps and on MDO days. My *creative mojo* was lacking the last couple of weeks, but I woke up inspired today. Maybe it was the fresh air in the house from having had the windows open during the night who knows. I just know that I have not felt like sitting down to create in a couple of weeks, I guess there has been to much else to do, just life. I plan to post more this week and I am also working out the details of a new giveaway so stay tuned...

Halloween Set

I recently did this set for a customer. They turned out really cute I think.

I can't wait to get my stuff up. My grandmother will be here for a visit this weekend, I am hoping she will feel like making me a new fall wreath for my front door. She is the *queen* of floral arranging. I won't even go into the the amount of time my Mother and I have spent with her shopping for flowers. Right Mom? Anyway it is always fun! I did make this screen pumpkin thingy last weekend. I am still trying to decide if I like it or not. It was a total experiment. I will snap a picture this weekend and post it, OK I'm off to take Lindsey to cheer and grab a couple of things from the store for dinner that I forgot to get earlier in the week.

I stumbled upon this, well actually someone emailed me and asked if that was my stuff. Well *holy cow* it is.

The little scalloped place cards and the table numbers are mine. Diana was great to work with. This is the first I have seen my stuff in use and it makes me all giddy inside.

I have a lot to say just don't know where to start, too much going on. Right now I should be working on some orders (some are drying, some are on the machine, some are in my head waiting to burst out) while the girls are at school/MDO, but here I sit reading blogs, IMing hubby at work, while he is probably being productive. I shouldn't bring him down with me should I? Oh well. Sometimes I just want to take a break, I don't do that nearly enough, always go, go, go.

I finished up the cutest little gift(s) for my new niece a couple of days ago. I can't post pictures just yet, I want it to be a surprise for my brother and sis-in-law.

I have also had several requests/orders for Monogrammed Pumpkins and some candy buckets(larger ones), I have decided to take requests so let me know if you are interested.

OK, my dogs are driving me nuts with all the barking, gotta go see what is up. Good grief.

I almost for got to mention I am an Aunt again. My brother and his wife just had their second child on Tuesday, another sweet little girl, Miss Taylor Morgan. I am still waiting on some real pictures, I only have the one he sent me on my cel phone right after she was born. I can't wait to get my hands on her. I hate being so far away from them. So if you are counting, my brother and I have 4 girls between us. Pink everywhere. I love it!!!!
